Running your books in Qatar

There is very little to set up here, and we would rather tell you that than invent an obligation to sell against. The software earns its place on how well it runs your business.

Currency QAR
Standard rate No VAT or sales tax
Electronic invoicing Not required

Rates and obligations on this page were last reviewed on 21 August 2026. They are given for orientation, not as tax advice — check the current position with the authority or your accountant before you rely on it.

What that means for a business in Qatar

Choose Qatar at sign-up and the riyal, the calendar and a general chart of accounts are already set.

Nothing to file, nothing to certify — the software earns its place on how well it runs your business, not on compliance.

Multi-currency is included, which matters when you buy in dollars or euros and report in riyals.

bolt Nothing extra to file

Set it up once, then just run the business

Without a filing platform to connect to, setup is your company, your accounts and your opening balances. Most businesses are invoicing the same afternoon they sign up.

What the first hour looks like

Four steps, in this order, and you are working. Choosing Qatar at sign-up fills in most of them for you.

  1. Your company Name, address and financial year. Choosing Qatar sets QAR as your base currency and picks the right time zone, so your first day's dates are already correct.
  2. Your tax codes Nothing to do — there is no VAT or sales tax to configure. If you ever need one, adding a rate takes a minute.
  3. Your chart of accounts A standard chart is created for you. Rename it, extend it or import your accountant's own — nothing here is locked.
  4. Your opening balances Customers, suppliers, bank balances and stock on hand, entered or imported from a spreadsheet. After that you are simply working.
